PROGRAMS YOUTH ON FIRE 4.jpg

About

‘Youth on Fire’ was a mentoring program for young and emerging artists looking to grow their arts practice and arts business through coaching, networking, training and of course playing in their chosen field.

It’s first incarnation was at the Regional Arts Conference of Queensland, ‘Arts Ablaze’ and saw 20 young people camping, learning and sharing together, led by mentor, Andrew Wright who works as an artist and global business coach for leaders in the Creative Industries.

The program is being reimagined in partnership with the Regional Arts Services Network to become a program called ‘Artrepreneur.’ This will be delivered state wide to improve the mindset, leadership and business acumen of young and emerging artists across Queensland.

The Youth on Fire Program opened my brain up to so many indispensable business and marketing techniques that artists NEED to make a successful career. This experience has allowed me to define my art, myself and therefore my product.
— Johanna Lyon (cabaret artist)
The career building relationships and connections we formed under the leadership of Andrew Wright were invaluable as were the life long friendships we made which created so much confidence and support. Super grateful for Andrew & Louise looking after us.
— oh harlow (band)
The things I learned in my time with Andrew were incredible. It allowed me to take my art form to the next level.
— rhys williams (theatre maker)
For me personally the Youth on Fire Program helped me choose the path I wanted to be on and understand that it was viable. Andrew is not only a fantastic career mentor but also great at understanding people on a personal level. I gained so much self confidence from the experience and feel like I learned a lot about public speaking and making connection with people in the industry. 12 out of 10 - would recommend.
— Sarah seton (community arts worker)
