7 Steps to Growing Greatness

At Goat Track Theatre, we believe all children and young people are important.  We also believe that they all have the chance to be great in whatever it is they put their mind to. We also know first hand the amazing part that drama and theatre can play in this growth.

Our classes are not just for aspiring performers. They are invaluable for all children and young people who would like to experience personal growth.

We are here to add value to the lives of the children and young people that we work with. We ask them from the beginning of our time together what it is they would like to take away from their relationship with us. We then ensure that they are achieving their personal, social and artistic goals on a weekly basis. The things that most children and young people want from us are:

CREATIVITY

Young people are drawn to imagination and play; it’s their language and they want to continue to explore their creativity.

CONFIDENCE

Young people want to grow their self-esteem, self-concept, risk taking, positive self-talk and personal identity. There is no greater gift than self-belief. It makes all things possible.

RELATIONSHIPS

Young people want meaningful relationships with others. They want to belong and know that others value them, that there is a place for them to ‘feel at home’/

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Young people might not get around using these words but they definitely express a desire to have empathy, to express their emotions, and in some cases to walk in another’s shoes.

PERFORMANCE ABILITY

Young people love the opportunity to performer, to be artistic, and children and young people love being mentored and challenged by artists.

INTERPERSONAL & GROUP SKILLS

Young people love the opportunity to expand their social network, to be amongst a community of learners, and most importantly, they love to be given the opportunity to develop their own leadership in a safe environment.

FUN

Having a go is something we see young people loving the most AND the good news is, drama is a healthy risk taking activity. Every lesson they will be stretched and supported.
