The Risk Project - 2013

It can be hard for young people to get the balance right in the midst of what sometimes appear to be contradictory messages about risk taking.

On the one hand, young people are becoming more and more risk averse and on the other they are exhibiting increasing amounts of negative high-risk behaviours. The exploration of these issues is the exact concern of Goat Track Theatre’s project –  “The Icarus Chronicles” by Andrew Wright that was born out of the RISK Project conducted over a 12 month period across the wider Scenic Rim Region with over 100 young people involved.

“Take a risk!”, “ Get out of your comfort zone”, “ You’ll never know if you never go!”, “Take the road less travelled”, “Don’t do anything stupid.” or  “ Better to be safe than sorry.” These are all things we’ve heard far too often. “The Icarus Chronicles” explores the notion of taking risks through the central character of Matilda who finds herself at a crossroads. Along the way, she meets some weird and wonderful characters in this semi-mythical land as she tries to weave her own destiny.
