The Gypsy - 2021

When a young woman arrives in the village of Braham, she quickly finds herself shunned by the community and asked to leave. When she refuses to go, the prejudice of the town leads them headlong into a rising atmosphere of accusation, violence and recrimination.

‘The Gypsy,’ explores hypocrisy, fear-based violence and the darker sides of group think. Often, as humans we have a fear of the stranger or outsider, but this play asks the audience to consider if the stranger has more to fear from us.

‘The Gypsy’ appeared as one of six plays, that feature as a part of ‘THIS DARK KINGDOM’ - a collection of gothic fairy-tales that are inspired by conversations with young people.
