Birds of a Feather - 2018, 2019 & 2024
Birds of a Feather is a street theatre project that started it’s life rather innocently and has landed the company and it’s young actors work in International Festivals across Australia the likes of Woodford Folk Festival and the celebration events held during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
After some initial research from across the Scenic Rim Region where the three major townships were asked what bird they thought made them say, “I’m home,” there were a number of key birds identified that have informed this quirky and colourful roving street theatre performance.
The birds identified where the Bush Turkey, the Galah, the Magpie the Kookaburra, Tawny Frogmouth, the Lyrebird and the Bowerbird. Each bird has their own very unique and distinct characteristics that make them fun to play with as actors and an absolute blast to watch as an audience. Coupled with some exquisite costumes that pop (and are a piece of art in their own right) these new energised ‘funsters’ bring family friendly joy to events and festivals.
Birds of a Feather continues to be a crowd favourite being performed at many festivals, most recently at The Longest Sunset 2024.
